TGR gear swap? Ebay?

Beacons never really go on sale, so you might just want to give in and buy one from REI, or BC.com

Trackers are $290, and although they don't have all the features of new beacons, are very simple to use.

Maybe try to find a 10% or 20% off coupon on-line somewhere.

Or try to pick up an old analog for like $150. They will work just as well, but require A LOT more practice to get good with.

I wouldn't say A LOT. I didn't have much practice when we were searching for nate's beacon that we blindly threw down the hill last year on hog's back and I wasn't having any more difficulty than anyone else.

I'd almost say what you lose in lack of directional help with analog beacons is nearly cancelled by how much better their range is.
