Date Skied Monday Jan 23rd

Weather: light snow Temps in the low 30's

Conditions: 4+ inches of fresh very soft fresh powder on top of very firm frozen granular.

We all arrived at different times, but grabbed as many runs as possible in the fresh snow. Many of the local schools were closed for the day so FIS Race Trail and Twister were open for free runs. That was a nice treat. Fis was soft and not bumped up around 5ish. Twister brought the same feel.

FIS got shut down for grooming for our race, so we made laps on twister. Scott took advantage of the free runs and took out his tele gear/ He had a couple of interesting athletic moves that impressed us all.

Ga 2 ski and Tree_skier tend to leave the rest of us in the dust. Well last night was no different.
Roark Charlie myself and Chile all seemed to be having a blast as well.

We all waited to get registered until about 6.30 ish. We all ran kind of in the same time frame. We waited at the Top of FIS to register, but they decided to do it at the race start. The fun began. Skier cross. :D About 70 people taking off for a good spot in line at the same time on a icy and bumped up run. You had to be there. Just insane. We all laughed there were some collisions, crashes and many near misses and plenty of stories for the rest of the night.

ow ya there was a race. The yellow course was the harder of the two and the scores on the yellow were valued more than those one the green. Under the fresh show it was Frozen granular... well we will call it that. Wild ruts and hard ice.

Same as it ever was, but props Tree-Skier finished 6th overall. Ga2ski finished 29th I believe, but with his tele handicap he brought the 2nd most points to the team. I was 14th and brought in the next points. Scott was right behind me and Chile and Roark and Charlie all finsied to give us counted points and runs.

Point of note. Chile know has a helmet. Roark after a multi crash run showed class and got up and finished to get a counted run. Well done. not to mention his bride joined us and helped to make the group more enjoyable. Charlie went single is his race cause 7 is not evenly divided by two. My turn next week. Charlie still seemed to have the most laughs with his patented laugh and smile.

Apres ski was again a highlight. Chile, roark/bride and Tree-skier were holding down space at the bar when myself Charlie and Scott and Ga2ski came in.

ow back to the race. We finished 4th as a team and are in 5th place at this point for Monday's. Alot of time left but we are on the bubble as far as the playoffs, but we are competitive. Come out and watch us. What can be more fun on a Monday than skiing.

Easy... you know what I mean.

Tree_skier posted a 19.88 first run which was tremendous, and Bob had 2 runs in 20.90/20.50 which is very consistent and very fast. Ga2ski is the tele master. How does he do it? Scott also put points on the board again. Really good to meet Charlie at long last.

I somehow managed to complete my 1st run in the green course, but on the yellow course I got launched at the 4th gate, and went out of the course. The race trail was groomed, but it only took about a half-dozen skiers down the course to dig some HUGE ruts at every gate, and by the second run it was ridiculous. Roark's wipeout 2nd run looked like it hurt, but he was in fine shape at the bar later. 4th place last night made the beers taste good.

Took some pics and videos, and will post when I can. Probably tomorrow or Thursday when work slows down (the bosses are in town today - Friday)

Good fun was had by all, especially when we were not racing. Sure racing was fun (well the first run), but ripping through fresh snow was much better.

I was very impressed with our fourth place finish. We might not be the fastest team on the hill, but we are consistent and that might help us make the "extra innings".

This might be true freeskiing, but not in the course. I guess that is because I have to turn in the course. If any of you have skied with Bob you know how smooth his turns are and his smoothness results in fast runs in the course.

See ya next week

I liked the running commentary Pat's had:
"That was the raddest tele tuck ever!"

If you hands are cold put them in your pants...

All these barbs were said, and in pretty good humor at the time. They were broadcast all over the mountain on the speakers.

Great report. How do you like Pats Peak? Nice place, eh? Gonna have to join you all for an evening soon.

I was wondering about this comment. Some folks who have certain, um, 'thoughts' (like Marc   ) might get the wrong idea with this comment:

I'm sure you meant that it was nice to have her cheer you guys on while you race, right?

I tried 3 different ways to post that.
I guess the last was shaky as well.
I think it is a great place for a few hours. I like longer runs.
The night skiing is nice and worth while.
The races do take up the two best trails. Getting there early worked well for us last night. Ya come on any time TB

The people who run the progam are great and fun loving. This is a blast.

The skier cross we had to get in line was something not to miss. Ever remember the statement What the ---- is a chinese down hill?
This was the closest I have seen in real life.
