Alright, looks like no one else is gonna do it.

Conditions: "firm, but edgeable"

Met up with skibum9995 in the lodge around 5 or so. Training happening on FIS so we never hit it, save ga2ski's wax scraping run. Checked out Twister first run, then worked our way back across the hill (skipping Hurricane, the bumps looked a wee bit... well, solid).

Race was on Twister ("ughhh"). Probably the straightest course I've seen there, which we thought would be a good thing.

Results

The highlight of the night was probably skibum9995's 11th overall. Younger than all those around him in the standings, although his age isn't helping much on the handicap front ;-). Gold still eludes him, but I don't think it will be too long.

ga2ski smoked his first run, leaving me waaaaaay in the dust. But it didn't count, re-run. Maybe that's what you get for messing with Hot2. Knees were dropping (well, at least a couple: was that a tele-tuck-turn on the re-run?). Ended up 14th overall, pretty crazy for a guy who wears knee pads.

Similarly, tree_skier missed a gate first run, so he had to be sure to finish 2nd run. Hence the 5th place finish. We expect better next week from him.

I finished with the first double bronze night of the year, a bit of a disappointment.

I didn't really get to see the other runs, but I get the impression Peter and James are getting into it.

Props to tree_skier and skibum9995 for sporting the bodysuits on a rather chilly night. Although if you can fit 3 layers on under it you might need to bulk up.
:smash:

Announcement of times/re-runs at the finish was particularly sporadic. I've noticed this tends to happen on Twister more than FIS, or maybe we just all hate racing on that trail.

Overall a fourth place finish for AZ. Nastar definitely rewards the older guy who rips...The shift to a younger team has definitely made it harder for us overall than in the last couple years.

t_s wasn't "sweaty enough" and asked for a "tug" in the lodge so I knew it was time to go home.

//uh, yeah.

Not really a fan of Twister, but it wasn't quite as bad as last year. I felt like I had two decent runs, but I wasn't able to carry as much speed into the flats as I would have liked.

I want to thank Pat's for putting on the race and to all of those who spent lots of time out in the cold.

UGGGGHHHHHH - Twister.

BTW -I don't wear knee pads any more. Mainly because the ones I have don't fit properly.

Congrats to Skibum. It is about time you smoke my times.

I thought you only needed the knee pads for Tele turns.

They need to do something about the start on twister. You would think that they would adjust the first gate so it's not a hike across the hill or angle the start out towards the middle of the trail.

i am still not sure of what happened on the first run but the ski over my head caused me to be a wee bit off line. So I backed off the second run to be sure I finished. Still not far 4/10 out of first but not particurly good for me. I had a great first run going until the screw up unfortunately I didn't stay for the video.

Roark you were standing there and i figured you were good for at least one tug. I only really need a tug when it's warm and I have been sweating but it's easier with a tug or two.
