Funny you should ask that. I have been known to go a little over board with building jumps in my yard. A few years back my wife and I were renting a house. This house sat on an acre of land, was flat on one side of the house and had a small hill on the other. I moved most of the snow from the side of the house with the hill into a decent sized table top jump. That took about 8 hours of shoveling. I put the skis on went down the hill and could not get enough speed to even get up the jump let alone clear the table. DOHT!!!

Since I already had 8 hours invested into this damn jump and really wanted to hit it, I was not about to give up. The next day I spent 10 hours moving the snow from the other side of the yard into a starting ramp. I receive some very interesting looks from the neighbors as I filled garbage can after garbage can with snow, dragging them 50+yards to the other side of my yard and dumping them into a large pile. When all was said and done, I needed an 8 foot step ladder to get on top of this ramp. All the hard work paid off and I had a kick a$$ booter in my front yard which lasted most of the winter.

I wont even get into the fact that I built a snow gun which I used to cover some bare spots in the landing area. I’ll try and dig up some pics off my old computer to post.

I was thinking about a starting ramp for my little tree run. I've looked into a home-made snow gun. Before I spring for a compressor I need a snow blower and riding mower.

I lucked out with the compressor. A friend had one and needed someplace to store it over the winter. I told him he could keep it at my place as long as I could use it to make snow. He agreed and I was able to “resurface” my yard all winter. My wife was pissed when we got our electric bill the first month I made snow. Using the compressor as much as I did, our bill more than doubled. Oops!

I will fire up the old laptop when I get home tonight. If I can find them I will post. If memory serves me I have a few pics of the jump and snow gun in action.

Growing up, my Ma was the headmaster of a private Pre - K through 8th school that had a lot of hills and terrain features. This was in the early 90s before I had heard of the concept of rail slides, but come to think of it, there would have been a couple AWESOME places to break my nuts if I had wanted to try it.

As it was, we lived on campus, and I recall skiing to school, heels locked in (didnt own any XC skis) a couple of times. Also remember jumping off a couple retaining walls, a few 8-10 foot-tall roofs, and such. And making a kicker on the sledding hill and spraying it with water so it would set up, and then doing vintage 90s tricks off of it (spread eagles, daffies, twisters) as well as eating it really hard a few times (attempted helicopters).

Downhill I would love to see pics!!!

Having trouble finding all the pics on the old laptop. Was able to find one pic so far. This was after the first night of building. I added about 5-10 more feet worth of length to the table top and a little more height to the ramp.

This was a rail that I also had in the yard.

I really want to find the pics of the snow gun in action. I'm thinking my wife deleted them :angry:

Speaking of backyard parks i have a cool trash can jib set up right now. I fell pretty bad on it yesterday a couple times trying to 360 bonk it.

Anyway I might have some pictures up in a long time...cant put any pics on my comp untill i recover the old ones.
