WAITSFIELD, Vermont — The historic restoration of the Single Chair will not begin until after the next ski season, but important site work will begin this summer. The unsightly telephone polls and power lines that currently hang over the base area will be removed in preparation for the single chair rebuild. The three existing poles, located at the base of the Single Chair, near the Co-op office and adjacent to the Sunnyside Double, will all be going away. They will be replaced with transformers and the lines will be buried below the base area.

The rationale for this timeline is to ensure completion of the major part of the project in the Summer of 2007 and to spread out the cost. This portion of the project will eliminate the long-standing safety concerns of overhead lines in a busy base area while drastically improving the aesthetics on the mountain. The work will take place in August.
