:eek: That sucks. I worried about that the few times that I've ridden a gondola. I'd pretty much convinced myself that it could never happen... Now I see that my worry isn't completely unfounded... :(

I was preparing to take them inside the gondi with me because it was a little windy, but at the Canyons they are so kind as to take you skis from you and load them for you. It is convenient at times, especially for fat twin tips like mine that are finnicky to fit in the holders.

they want a week to look for it. no promises.

separated twin tips, the employee loaded them so it's clearly their responsibility. not that they agree with that...

apparently they reserve the right to look for them for 7 days with metal detectors. until then i'm SOL.

That's horrible customer service on their part not to take responsibility..

So they feel it's more cost effective to pay someone to look for them for 7 days, rather than just replacing them? Silly.

I don't like gondolas and you just gave me one more reason to!
I hope they find your ski :(
I never liked them either, except as an off-season touristy sort of thing. Sorry.

A lot of places are ass-backwards when it comes to the best way to handle their SNAFUs. :roll:

Sounds like the new owners (Talisker) might be picking up on a customer service level where ASC left off :(

Oops, I stand corrected, just saw this over on kzone about the delay of the transfer of the Canyons from ASC to Talisker;

http://www.secinfo.com/dsvrp.tCu.htm#1stPage

"ITEM 1.01. ENTRY INTO A MATERIAL DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT
As previously reported in the Form 8-K filing of American Skiing Company (the “Company”) dated July 16, 2007, the Company has entered into a definitive agreement (the “Purchase Agreement”) to sell The Canyons resort to Talisker Canyons Finance Co LLC (“Talisker Canyons”).
On December 31, 2007, Talisker Canyons exercised its right to extend the deadline for closing on its acquisition of The Canyons under the Purchase Agreement to May 31, 2008. In conjunction with such extension, Talisker Canyons provided an additional deposit of $2.5 million. The total good faith deposit made by Talisker Canyons under the Purchase Agreement is now $12.5 million, which amount is non-refundable except in circumstances set forth in the Purchase Agreement.

Still good 'ol ASC customer service at it's finest!

Not a fan of gondolas either. If I wanted to be in that close a proximity to that many assholes, I would've become a Proctologist.
