Anyone know how the current storms are treating/will treat Berkshire East? I'm thinking of going Saturday.

(I asked this question in another thread, but I'm curious enough to start a fresh one)

Thanks,
Michael (ta&idaho)

I live a half hour from Berkshire East. We got a nice 6 inches yesterday, so the Beast should be in good shape this weekend.

They had good coverage last Sunday with spring like conditions. Fresh snow should freshen things up a bit. Woods are set-up with a great base just waiting for some more fresh snow. 2-4 inches expect Saturday into Sunday.

Natural trail status?

Are any of the natural trails currently open, i.e. Liftline, Jug and/or Grizzly?

I was thinking of heading up there yesterday when I got up too late to hit Okemo, but with the total lack of a conditions page I decided not to since I had no idea what was open and what wasn't. It was pretty discouraging...

If they get anything above the 2-4 inch range I would say those natural trails have a good chance of opening tomorrow.

Their website is basically a step back in time. Better to call ahead or send me a pm since I'm up there just about every week or talking with folks who were there more recently than me.

If you could report here once you find out if those runs open, that would be great.

A friend is up there today. Waiting to get the report from him. When I do I'll post it up.

Probably a good guess on the closed trails, although patrol might just be saving them for themselves  Never hurts to ask as chances are they just haven't gotten a chance to get over there and ski something to get it open.

From my friend. I guess the mountain was closed today due to the winds, but this was his report from Friday.

"BTW-I skied Liftline, Jug, the Glades and tomahawk and Grizzly (Griz to Minnie-ungroomed powder to to bottomon Friday (we had 5 inches fresh on to) The picked up anoth 6-9 since then so I think everything is open (it all had a solid-bulletproof base underneath)."

So that said and the storm coming with 5-9 I would say it's time to hit up the BEast! I'll be there Friday night and Sunday if anyone wants to look for the Patroller with a white helmet and a "Ski the East" sticker on the front.
