I question if we will have lift service skiing before thankxgiving.
Sorry (Woodbury does not make my List)
The weather just won't break. Seems like the places that can access highter terrain and down load might be ok, but top to bottom, just seems almost impossible. Waterville remains a hope for me even though it will just be high country. Kind of over the frustration. Just waiting it out know. Don't even look at next weeks weather. Someone bring good news and show I'm wrong.;-)

Thinking the same thing...hopefully the longer the cold air is kept up north the better it will be once it comes.
It's not easy after last year but I like to keep the glass half full...:snow:

If the weather doesn't cooperate for you, it just may have to come down to this

For what it is worth..One of the long range forecast said a warm Nov and early Dec....Then becoming COLD with a good amount of snow Late Dec through Feb. So far it looks to be dead on.

I looked at at least 5 differnt weather forecasts. Looks like next Sat night 11-18 and a few days in a row after that snow can be make at night and maybe some during the day at elevation. Many areas have know gone to the day before or the day after Thankxgiving cause of the..............,........,........ weather as normal open dates in the last few years. Loon is a major example. This weekend use to be opening weekend. Know it get posted as the day prior to Turkey day.

Someone may have better memory than me but wasnt the weather on veterans day weekend similar last year?

I think a bunch of areas opened the friday after vets day. Lets just hope the forecast changes and we are skiing next weekend. Even if the forecast holds we are only talking about a few days later than last year.

To all,

This mass hysteria is one of the main reasons I do not play the "when will ski resorts open?" game. They will open sometime soon, that is all I need to know.

Will we ski? Yes.
Will we ski soon? Yes.
Do we know EXACTLY when? No.

Let's all take a deep breath and relax. Between these threads and the ones devoted to folks who are afraid they forgot how to ski, I think Chicken Little is out there laughing really hard right about now.

Agreed. For the first time since I started skiing 5 seasons ago, I have the same feeling, it'll happen when it happens. Normally I can't wait to get started, this year I still can't wait, but don't have the same urgency as in previous years.

= Time for more leg toning....walking/jogging/hiking!

Well I got one BobR...in these last two sunny days all the leaves in a ~25' maple have gone from totally green to all yellow...when they'll all be off is another matter....I know everyone was waiting for news of this one maple on my property...way up here in the boondocks..

At least the combo of sun and temps makes from great hiking weather....
Just have to keep the patience....!

I will be hiking on Sat. Leaving my gear behind probably.

I'l just get out and enjoy being in a pair of shorts and t shirt. Making the best of it. I should have taken Jims' approach. I really am fine when ever mountains open at this point. Strees for a fun obsession.... not any more.

I am willing to accept this...

...as long as soon = really freaking soon, like next week or something :)

Exactly!

Look, I have fishing buddies who start to stress out when fish don't bite according to thier projection of how the fish should bite based on what they see in solunar tables and flow rate charts. I mean really now! Unless you can talk to the fish and find out how they're feeling that day, just shut up and cast.

And since I can't decipher what the atmosphere is saying, I'll never stress about when ski season should start.

I think I might be anxious like you guys, but northern VT/NH have had a skiable snowpack since Oct 22ish, allowing me to start my season early. It just so happens it got warm this past week and is disappearing. But come on if you were all as stressed about skiing as you appear to be, you would have reaped the rewards of this early snowfall.

Normally, I wouldn't be this harsh, but all it took to get some awesome early season turns was a little heavy-ho up the mountain. No more complaints about the lifts not running!! They will turn soon, but for goodness sake, good skiable snow has been on the ground for 3 weeks now!!
