Belleayre Mountain, March 3, 2007:

Introduction: Hit up Belleayre instead of Plattekill today, didn't want to drive an extra 20 minutes for conditions that probably wouldn't be that great (as bad as Bell) eaither.

Weapon of Choice: Option Supercap 149

Conditions: Strapped in and realized my mistake of coming up. Sort of like surfing on a sheet of ice topped with slush, and some ice cookies lying about. Mountain was pretty empty when I got up at 9:30, and stayed empty most of the day. Took Belleayre Run > Lower Tongora to find a sheet of untracked completely icy groomed... not too fun. Hit Wannatuska to the Superchief lift a couple more times, then Lift 7 and hit Yahoo which was an icy bumpy mess. Trails warmed up a little with the temperatures so a few of the trails turned to spring slush, fun at first but only a few trails had it. Met up with a friend and headed over to Tomahawk, hit Deer Run then Dot Nebel then Seneca, all icy hard scraped. Sorry, no time to write more but the day was all pretty much the same, even though trails were softening up a little.

Weather: Warm, sunny with some clouds.

Lifts: 5 minute max on Superchief, none really on 7 or Tomahawk.

Notes: The woods were destroyed after the rain/ice storm. Almost unpassable, sticks and branches were everywhere, I don't know if Bell will recover by the time the season ends.

Rating: 4/10

Conclusion: Bad conditions but the weathe was alright...
