Belleayre Mountain, April 22, 2007:
Introduction: Haven't posted here in more than a month and a half... Needless to say I've been snowboarding a lot since then (although this was my first trip up to a mountain in about a month, I was sort of put off by that 70 degree weather at the end of March)
Weapon of Choice: Option Supercap 149
Conditions: Strapped in at 9:45-ish (t shirt and all) and was greeted by a trail full of slush (Superchief access trail). Felt like surfing, and it got worse as the day went on. Some of the least travelled trails (which surprisingly included Roaring Brook), were holding up pretty well. Dot Nebel and others had small bumps formed across almost the entire width of the trail, pretty fun. Puddles formed by the early afternoon, and the lift lines/lift unloading areas were a mess by the end of the day (Superchief lift line was pretty much a 4" pool of water). Deer Run was slow (everything was slow), but pretty fun and uncrowded. The park was nice, first hit got a new lip around noon, but the snow was slowish throughout (great jibbing day). Hiked over to Highmount for a "break" with my friend... there is still good coverage over there, about 5 inches, and they don't get any snowmaking over there. We actually were sitting on the lift chair that is stopped right above the unloading gate, just chilling in the sun. Fun stuff.
Weather: 80+ degrees, sunny, hot... .
Lifts: No lines.
Notes: Can't expect much more on the last day of the season, T-shirt weather and the majority of the mountain open...
Rating: 7/10
Conclusion: Last day!
