Sure hope that's the case, with the shoestring budget they have and all. Was up this past weekend and was disappointed to not be able to attack all the fresh on that side of the hill.

Except the lifties were keeping a sharp eye on anyone ducking the rope (don't ask how I know) and I don't believe there was a shuttle going there......

Yeah, at the ticket booths they had a sign that read "Tomahawk lift closed, AS IS DOT NOBEL AND TOMAHAWK CR" they didnt want us there.

they are doing work on Chair 2 down in lower section

Does belleayre have more than its fair share of lift breakdowns?

I've only ski there a few times, I've already had the misfortune to encounter one. And from talking to the "regular" waiting there, it seems not a purprise to them.

And now I hear it happen again here... is it just coincidental or is that a chronic problem there?

Idk, honestly for all the times ive skied there ive never run into many issues.... tho Lift 7 seems to be the most problematic which isnt surprising given its age. I love Tomahawk tho.... the thing seems like frankinstien, it looks like its build of 3 different lifts

The tomahawk breaking down was just a coincidence like posted earlier from bandit it was the result of an inexperienced snow maker. I gotta admit it was nice timing, keeping all that fresh powder hidden just for those of us who appreciated it and were brave enough to work our way over to it!

That's what I'm talking about. Lift 8 can stay broken and they can chase everyone away from the west side on every powder day as far as I'm concerned. It was killer. Fresh tracks all day Fri afternoon, Sat & Sun.

was that the one that one of the grips failed and the chair slid back?

Not sure what the real story is. Maybe a bolt snapped, or just may not be running mid-week. Whatever it is the locals/passholders are not pleased. :argue: Theres a thread over in the ADK message board. The Gore web-site said today they expect to have "all lifts running for the weekend"
