Alright .... so I'm heading up to Okemo tomorrow. Never skied there, but have passed it numerous times going up to the big K. I double checked the directions and they mentioned the Bennington Bypass. For those of you who are familiar with getting to VT from NYC (I'm thinking this is a good one for DMC) is it worth heading up 87 and using the bypass or should I just stick with I91 (note to self ... pee before getting onto I91 ... no rest stops.)

I think Rossiskier had mentioned this route before but I didn't get a straight answer whether this bypass would benefit those of us down here.

Thanks .... Rich

Bennington Bypass

I have used it twice this year. However, that was on trips to Killington. I live on Long Island and going up the "West" route (as I call it) using the Hutch (north) to I-684 (north) to I-84 (west) to Taconic Pkwy (north) to Rt 295 (east) to Rt 22 (north) to Rt NY 7 (east), which becomes Rt VT 9 (east) to VT Rt 279 (north-east) (the "Bennington Bypass) to VT Rt 7 (north)up through Rutland to Vt Rt 4 (east) to VT Rt 100 to the Killington access road saves me 63 miles versus the "East" route of the Hutch, Merrit/Wilber Cross, I-91, Vt Rt 103, Vt Rt 100 route. I do know that you would need to take Vt Rt 11 at Manchester to get to Rt. 100 and then to Ludlow and Okemo, but I have not actually gone that way in 15 years. It does look a little shorter that an I-91 approach. Suit yourself! LOL on conditions this week with all this rain. WE NEED A REALLY GOOD APRIL DUMP!!!!!!!!!
