Best skiing place to live in N.E.

I went to school near there (Castleton) and can't for the life of me think where you'd get a realish job in "Killington"/Sherburne/whatever they're calling that area now. I know Rutland is close, but, being diplomatic, it doesn't really appeal to me. Anyone have any experience? Is there more there now than there was in 1997 or so? All restaurants and seasonal retail, if memory serves.

I'm from the other side of the state. I moved for the same reason, unable to get paid enough to be comfortable. I know some folks who have nice computer jobs in the White River/Dartmouth college area. Seems to be a bit of a tech base there.. I would think the college has something to do with it.

Burlington is definitely a sick place to live for skiing. I go to school up there right now (Saint Mikes). The housing is kinda expensive and the job selection in all of VT is piss poor. The housing isn't as expensive as down in the Boston area (but then again Boston is out of control). Also the salaries up here are at least 5k-10k less than in southern NH/Boston.
