Hey All,
I'm back from a fun late afternoon/evening session at Big Boulder PA. I left the A at 1:50PM and arrived and the temperature was 42 degrees. The drive was smooth and I arrived at Big Boulder at 2:40PM and the temperature was 35 degrees and the guns were blasting on the upper mountain. Atomic Jeff was there and we booted up and purchased out tickets for $15 taking advantage of one last day of early season prices before the rates go to full price tomorrow.
We were the 2nd and third people down the Big Boulder Trail. It's a wide black diamond(really a Blue) and the grooming was great with only a few little divits that were easily avoidable. There was even some fresh manmade Poe on the lower right. After several runs we ran into M-Bike Mike(Gorganzola on AlpineZone) and skied lots of runs with him. We also took a few runs on the run that goes down the middle of the mountain. I don't recall the name. I skied until 6:25PM and me and Atomic Jeff skied 32 runs@475 vert per run for about 15k of vert. There were no liftlines but the parking lot was pretty full when we left. The conditions stayed good and didn't get too slick and they kepted lighting up the guns as the session progressed. When I left the temperature was 31 degrees at the base.
As I was making a left onto the road that leads to the highway. I had to stop due to a car coming around the bend and the car behind me wasn't paying attention and slammed into me. The impact was prettty severe and I went out to access the damage and there was only some chipped paint and that's it. I told the kid in the Volvo wagon who hit me that I would let it go. I didn't want to deal with insurance shizzle and possible police. When I got to the Lehigh Tunnel..I ordered Outback take-out..and 20 minutes later, my meal(Strip Steak, Salad, Garlic Mashed Potatoes) was brought out to me the second I pulled up. Then I bought some Yuengling and I'm just going to Chillax. It was a fun session with some PASRs and I'm impressed how strong the bumper is on my Subaru...Holla....
