11 days in Lake Tahoe. While the soon-to-be-wife and I have passes at Heavenly, we'll ski a couple days at Squaw (The Holy Land) and 1 each at Alpine and Kirkweed!

Nice price on the air but it's like a 5hr drive from Seattle plus you need to rent a car. Fly into Vancouver and shuttle up. Once you're there you won't need a car at all. The difference in condos between Jackson and Whistler will become apparent. Unless you're Japanese you're going to feel claustrophobic at Whistler. And don't bum out if it's raining half way up the mountian. That only means it's dumping up higher. With over 5k of vert. there are usually 3 differant weather zones. Get some FAT skis for the "thick white chile".

Third times a charm they say.

Ask around and get some western advice and you won't get skunked. It may cost a little more coin but you've experienced (by your own account) the alternative. A trip out west should be the epitome of skiing. No reason for anything else with a little planning and knowledge.

The In-laws live in Bellingham WA. Borrowing their Grand Cherokee and the drive should only be 3hrs. Lucked out there. Condo is already booked at Legends at the base of Whistler, not in the Village.

Tickets for round trip to Vancouver were over $1000.

I totally expect the western version (or maybe European version) of KMart. Definitely wasn't my first choice, but we were going out there to see the in-laws in Bham anyhow. I have definitely been warned about consistent rain at the base.

Thanks for the tips!

Not stopping at Mt. Baker? $40 lift tickets can't be beat for some entertaining terrain, and if you're lucky and its clear (or not so lucky as its not snowing in that case) you'll have some of the best scenery anywhere in the world. Cheap stays can be found in Glacier WA if you do some searching. Its an hour off the 5 east of Bellingham, but absolutely worth it.

We debated hitting the cascades/ western side of Washington too-and if it looks like interior BC is getting skunked when we arrive we have a plan B to take a left out of Spokane and head to Steven's Pass and maybe work our way north to Baker. But as it stands, we'll focus primarily on Red (and possibly other interior BC places if the mood grabs us!).

I am jazzed that everyone's opinion is high on RED, it's a little different trip than usual. Next year, if I can block out the 10 days I think it would require, we'll head further north and do a Revelstoke-Roger's Pass-Kicking Horse run-for a little bit of everything. But time wise-I'm banking on the spokane to Red ticket!

Sounds like folks are getting geared up for a good winter-I saw a couple of trips to Tahoe listed-guys, remember-don't pass up on little MOUNT ROSE! The Chutes area holds the best (highest and most north facing) snow in Tahoe, it's cheap, uncrowded, and, in the chutes plenty steep-there's a good day of high angle skiing to be had at the Nevada gem!

Man o man, it's coming....
