Which is it? I've heard both terms and have to believe they apply to the same thing, that being those do hikeys that attach you're boot (hopefully with your foot in it) to the skis. They are the same thing, right?

I've always used binding and only recently heard them refered to as binders. Not that it really makes me qualified, but I worked in a ski shop for two years and never heard anyone (customers or industry reps) say binders. Just the same the term is kinda growing on me and I might start using it.

It's called a Binding but alot of people the last few years call them binders because it sounds steezier. The Atomic Neox are some good binders..

I've only recently, and VERY infrequently, heard clamps or vises refered to as "Binders". Some people will say anything to appear hip

....and not only look or sound like a moron doing so, but also feel like a moron ten years down the line when they look back at the 'fad' they were trying to be a part of.

I have never heard of binders. No customer has ever come in and said "Hey man, can you mount my binders?" even the "steeziest" of the steezy;-)

It's kinda the way I sometimes refer to a snowboard as a "deck".

I was actually poking fun at some nosense from back in the pre-neon ski days when we used to say things like that.

Along similar lines, circa 1988, we ski down the Sure-burn to get more supplies (supplies=beer) cause the dump the night before tipped the avy scale to "Extreme". My friend orders a pizza at Elvio's under the name "Gnarly dude" just to hear the cook scream it out when the order was ready.

Will I appear hip if I refer to my bindings as "Jaws of Death" ?

I didn't think so either.

binders isn't a new school slang...its actually old school...usually pronounced "bindahs" by some scruffy bearded tech up here in Maine...ayuh. I prefer clamps.
