An aberration for sure, this was reported on their Facebook page Last Thursday December 29th.

Thursday morning:
"Unfortunately our lifts are on wind hold this morning due to high winds. Also, for those of you who have tried to call or email, our phone and internet are currently out at the mountain due to wind damage. They are currently working to remedy this situation and we will open as soon as conditions permit. Please continue to check back here for updates."

Thursday night

"OK, here's the update: Black Mountain will remain closed for the day due to continued high winds at the upper elevations. We also have a crew working to remove down trees and debris from the trails. Unfortunately, the strength and unusual direction of the wind has been bad for us today. As our regulars know, this is atypical for Black where we usually are more protected from damaging winds. We are very sorry for this inconvenience."

Mnt pretty much faces south. At the top of the Superstar Quad at Killington yesterday, there was strong southerly winds. The must have a funneling effect also.
