Area skied: Blandford Ski Area, Blandford MA

Date Skied: February 20th, 2006

Surface Conditions: Packed Powder

I skied Blandford ski area for the first time ever today with my son. This was the most fun I have ever had skiing a place with only 465' of vertical, but Blandford packs alot into it's vertical drop.

Blandford is the oldest club owned ski area in North America, and even though it is not owned by a big company, it is well run and the snow conditions where excellent given last weeks severe thaw and rain.

We started out the day at 10:15am and skied 10 runs until we stopped at 12:30pm. New snow had been blown on every open trail and skier traffic was fairly light keeping icy spots to a bare minimum.

Liftlines were nearly non existent and I never waited more than 2-3 minutes. The area is serviced by three Hall double chairs and a surface lift in the learn to ski area.

Great shot. Can I use this in the ski area profile for Blandford?

I purposely took these shots for you from atop a 10' high snow pile in the parking lot. Perhaps this one might be better:

It was not cold, actually it was a beautiful day for skiing. There where alot of people, but the place is wide, with more trails not visible to the right side of the full picture of the ski area.

Also this place is out of the way from I-90, and off the beaten path.

Lift tickets where reasonable at $37 for me and $32 for my son. We will be going back next year when more trails are open.
