Trip Report:
My friend and I got to Blue about 9:45 and were on the snow by 10:00, we started out with a warmup run down Paradise. This was my friend's first time on skis this season so he needed a couple of warmups. We then skied the new blue trail Dream Weaver great conditions on both. After that we hit Challenge for a fast run of the full vertical. Razors Edge was closed all day because they were blowing snow down the length of the trail. Both the detachable 6 pack and quad were running so we used the quad mostly because there was hardly anybody else using the quad. In fact there were not many people there at all with it being a weekday and I'm guessing the cold kept some people away too.
The cold made for great fast snow though. We headed over to the west side of the mountain and made a bunch of runs off of the double. We did a couple of runs on Main Street and I was looking at Barney's Bumps. After a short lunch break at the summit lodge we went back out and my friend went into the bumps so I decided what the hell, I'll try it. It was my first time purposely trying to ski bumps and it was pretty fun, I had to take it slow but I ended up skiing them 3 times, and I don't think I did too bad though I'm sure it didn't look pretty.
A little later we took another short break to warm up and then skied a bunch of runs all over the mountain. Our second to last run for the day was Challenge, the racers were getting ready and there was a sign up that said it was closed to the public but we skied slowly toward the sign and nobody said anything. One of the race people put up the rope right behind us so we were the last people to ski Challenge before the racers. Our last run was Paradise again, I was arcing big GS turns down it to make it last. We took our skis off at 4:45 and hit the road. It was my longest day this season as I usually only have a couple of hours to ski due to family obligations. It was a great day at Blue with stellar conditions and I felt like I accomplished something with the bump skiing plus I just skied really well all day.
