Blue is by far my favorite in the poconos,n and I was up there this weekend and they had blown alot on the trails closest to the summit lodge... but that was before the rain so I don't know what it looks like anymore. I just can't wait for them to open because I haven't gotten a day in yet. Going up to Boulder on Friday, should have 6-10 trails.:spin:

I'll be at Big Boulder on Friday as well from 3:00PM-???? What a great start to the season for me..that will be my 6th day already..

GSS, I appreciate your comments on Blue... really.

But can you try to use line breaks and paragraphs here and there?

Just checked the weather for Palmerton, PA and it is looking like starting Thursday evening, night time snowmaking is possible for the next week or so. Sunday might be a bit sketchy though.

Maybe'll they will be blowing snow in 30 hours.

All of you guys keep talking about how sweet switchback and paradise are... but you forgot one of the best trails on the mountain(if there isn't huge crowds). BURMA ROAD, there is not a better trail for fast turns and other obstacles(gapers):dunce: Plus it usually has some "jersey booters" along the edges to impress the noobs:razz:

burma can be a good time if its empty - otherwise i stay away. I was cracking up a few weeks ago while lurking on another board, someone actually named it as "the most dangerous trail on the east" or somehting-or-other due to the combination of noobs, narrowness and turns?!?!?!

A fun combination is Tuts lane to connector to Come-Around to Burma to Shuttle to the Lower Park...I call that Burma and Back..Watch out for the Red Coats..they have whistles, frozen pens, and tickets in their fanny packs and they don't appreciate skiers going over 10mph on Burma or Paradise unless you're in a power wedge turkey tuck..lol

If they've got enough snow, I believe there's a connector from the bottom of Raceway into Burma, which can make a nice run.

Cool! Does that look like snowmaking on main street?

Yup snowmaking top to bottom on Mainstreet, Midway, and around the base of the 6-pack/homestretch...Lazy Mile will probably be next..based on the temperatures today..they might be able to keep the guns going all day..or maybe just shut them off for a few hours this afternoon before cranking them back up tonight...

Also their new pumps can pump 15-20% more water to the guns..that's huge..That's my boy Blue..

Blue locals - any updates? Still nothing on their website with regards to the which trails they will open with on Friday. Trying to figure out if night skiing next Monday will be worth the drive.

Opening with EASY OUT, VISTA,MIDWAY,MAIN STREET AND IF THE FEATURES ARE IN PLACE COME AROUND WILL OPEN AS A TERRAIN PARK ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY.

I think they'll probably be able to open more than that with the temps they've got for the rest of the week.

For sure on Friday will be Easy Out, Vista, Midway, Main Street, Come Around, School Hill, and Explorers.....Lazy Mile is a possibility...By Monday I wouldn't be surprised if the 6-pack is open with Tuts lane, Falls, shuttle, and Homestretch as well..Of course it will be worth the drive..it's really dead early season at Blue..especially midweek..I'll post a report Friday evening..

Cool. I'll be waiting for that TR. As the resident Blue expert, when is your best guess for seeing some Barney's Bumps being seeded. A few years ago I was there in January and they were just getting around to seeding them. I love those icy knee killers.

Last year, I was invited to do a safety check run with the ski patrol down Paradise after the mid-day groom. Man was that ever fun. I hope the chili in the Summit lodge is still $4

I'm guessing there'll be seeded bumps on Main Street after they open some additional terrain maybe next week or the week after. Last season there wasn't enough snow for a second round of blowing early season on Main Street but this year with all the expected cold weather, they'll be 100 percent open for the Holidays..maybe a week before..:smash:

I like the grooming from 4-5:00PM..If you time it right you can get fresh cord on paradise, Lazy Mile, and Switchback..people line up at the rope like there's a foot of powder and I love skating to the front of the pack or tucking or whatever and having the entire run with nobody in front of me. You can hit pretty decent speeds on Paradise..especially in the middle section and after the sharp left turn near the bottom...watch out for the red-coats with their whistles..If you're making lots of nice turns..they'll whistle at you but if you're in a power-wedge turkey tuck...you'll be just fine..

Blue Mountain still planning on opening tomorrow. Good news for us pathetic mid atlantic skiers. The weather forecast is a bit sketchy for this weekend, but they should have no problem hanging on to their base until the next cool down.

GSS, I am expecting a detailed trip report tomorrow at 10:30pm. Pictures and line breaks would be nice too. :)

My report will come much earlier than 10:30PM..I'll ski from about 1:00PM until maybe 5:00PM..It looks like good night-time snowmaking this weekend with a few chances of snow. Koreshot will you be up at Blue this weekend? We're having PASR days with at least a dozen expected to attend this Saturday and Sunday. I'm psyched that Lazy mile will be open and most likely seeded bumps on upper Main Street..it will be one of the best openings I remember and the 6-pack will be open as well...I'm not taking any pictures..I hate the extra bulk of my camara...sorry...Snowmaking has been going around the clock most of the week.
