Packed Powder, Powder

On our second leg of our tour de Vermont, Xwhaler, our friend Nate and I skied Bolton Valley. We also met up with Madmadworld for some quality runs as well.
This was not my first trip to Bolton but it was certainly the most enjoyable time I've had there. The mountain reported 2-3" overnight and it snowed throughout the day for another 3-4" and about 7" total. The fresh snow made for some incredible ski conditions. Everything skied well. Lack of visibility led us to focus on mainly skiing trees. Preacher woods, Devils Playground were fantastic. I was impressed how steep and tight the lines in there were. We managed to find a lot of great spots off both chairs. Lots of little quick shots with boot deep snow in places. Timberline was closed for mechanical reasons. Our last run was down Devils Playground and it was probably the best. It had filled in nicely all day with boot deep snow which really made for some great charging. Great day overall. I wish we could have had a chance to ski Timberline and hit up Lost Boyz. Too cloudy, windy and snowy for pictures but here is a good one.

Great day up at BV! Awesome skiing with you guys.
Will add that some great trees are over on Wilderness Peak (on map---Outlaw Woods) and off map.
Scored some free skis I may mount for my wife at the RSNE Party Sat night....good band and pulled pork sandwiches!
Nice cheap 24 hrs at Bolton as we were there on a discount ski and stay RSNE package I was able to arrange.
Bolton packs a lot of punch into the first 1/3 of the vertical then it flattens out which was tough as my skis need a good waxing.

What kind of skis did you win?

I was unaware of RSNE lodging deals. I'll have to look into that next year.

No idea actually. They are a twin tip 165 and they say Kahlua on them haha. They look to be a decent spring/soft bump ski for my intermediate wife.
Kinda noodly though and nothing I'd advise taking on hardpack/steeps.
My name got drawn and up I went to collect the skis!

I skied Bolton on St Patrick's day. One of my best days all year. Refills all day with a soft base underneath from Sunday's snow. Lift issues sucked, however, as both Timberline and Wilderness were closed for mechanical reasons, and the Vista quad went on wind hold around 1:30. Glades skied deep. First time there in maybe 20 years! Pictures were near impossible with the low visibility, but here are a couple.
