Area skied: Bolton Valley, Vermont

Date skied: March 19th, 2006 from 8:30am - 12:30pm

Surface conditions: 10-12" of powder

I awoke this morning at 7:00 am to the sound of a snowplow clearing out the parking lot of our hotel and looked out of our window to find 4" of snow with more still falling. A quick check of Boltons conditions indicated 8-11" of snow and it was still snowing.

We checked out of our hotel and made for Bolton. The depth of snow increased as we made our way up the access road with about 10" at the base at 8:15am with heavy snow still falling and the place nearly deserted.

Our first run was down Foxy which is a short trail near the base just to test Warrens powder skiing.

We headed over to the Timberline area and cut first tracks down Spell Binder in deep untouched powder.

I took a run down Brandy Wine which had powder up past my boot tops, but it had a thin coat of ice for a base, but was still fun.

We skied Twice as Nice and Showtime which had nice loose powder snow. We headed back to the Vista Quad and I took a run in the trees on Vista Glade which is a new glade, but I had some roots/stumps to avoid.

The weather cleared up somewhat between 10:30 - 12:00pm before more snowshowers moved in. The winds where calm for the most part and temperatures where in the high teens.

Sounds like you had an amazing weekend. I can't believe you skied at Jay AND Stowe in one day...that's a lot.

Today was the best day of the season for me conditions wise. Yesterday was a long day, but the powder at night at Stowe was really fun.

We are currently about halfway across the Long Island Sound on the ferry, but I will post pictures from this weekend when we get home.

I posted some pictures from today, we had a great time in the deep powder. I noticed that Bolton is reporting the most new snow for Vermont today on RSN at 5-7", but you can tell from these pictures that they had alot more. The offical website says 8-11" which sounds about right.
