I'm in the market for new boots (downhill) and need help. I haven't looked at boots in a long time. My current boots are probably over 15 years old and I'm afraid they will just crack on me in the most unopportune moment.
I don't really trust the ski shop sales people and I know that there is depth of boot knowledge on this board.

So what's out there that's good? I value comfort (meaning no pain) as much as performance, so I hope to find something that doesn't compromise one over the other.

I spend a good deal of my ski time in the bumps but once I get tired, I'll ski everything else, preferably fast and hard. OK- I'm not the terrain park type. So I guess I'm looking for something with good flex but also responsive.
I'm about 155 lb and fairly athletic.

I don't care about color or brand. If it's a model that came out even a couple of years ago, that's even better, so I don't have to lay out the top dollar. There are stores that carry overflow from past seasons - I like a bargain if I can find one.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you had asked a month or so ago...I would have recommended Strands in Worcester. They always seem to have previous year overflow.

Wachusett's Labor Day sale was also a good hit.

I heard there were some deals @ the show last month in Boston.

Depending on your size...you may still find something @ Strands...about 45 minutes form Boston.

Sorry pal.

the best boot is one that fits properly and is fitted to your foot. Ask 10 people what boot is the best and you'll get 15 answers. Find a highly recommended bootfitter (even if you have to drive) and do it right....in life you should have a good doctor, mechanic, accountant and bootfitter....they are worth their weight in gold!!
