Do ou typically boot up in the lodge or in the parking lot? Why? I almost always boot up in the parking lot. It's quicker..I can keep my shoes locked in my car..and I hate going into the warm lodge before skiing. On ski trips I boot up in the hotel room and drive/take shuttle bus/walk to the lift in my ski boots...

I'm not anal about walking in my ski boots..I put over 300 days on my now retired langes and the heel and toe pieces got worn down quite a bit but nothing too crazy,,,I'm an early bird so I also usually park within 50-100 yards of the snow..I also try not to do the running man in my Boots too often except for special occasions and Gaper days..

Always in the lodge. Pavement is horrible for the soft plastic on the bottoms of boots. Doesnt take much to make the binding release slightly different by wearing them down.

Lodge mostly unless I'm night skiing when I can usually park right near the entrance. On a warm spring day with a mud-less parking lot and if I'm close, I'll boot up in the car.

I boot up in the condo and drive the SUV a mile to the mountain. I pay for season parking so I don't walk on pavement. Visiting other mountains, I boot up in the car unless it's stinkin' cold out.

Depends on where I am.

At Wachusett it's always in the lodge. I always get the same table in the lodge and I'm inside quite a bit there so I can check on my stuff every time I'm inside.

If it's at a smallish place that I'll be eating lunch in the same lodge that my stuff is in then I'll boot up in the lodge there too. Most times at the big places it's at the car.

I hate when people reserve tables for the day with all their crap..keep your stuff in cubbies, lockers, or in your car....Not on or under tables..

I just move stuff on or under tables aside (carefully) when I sit down. One time I got a bit of a dirty look from the people who tried to "claim" a table but you snooze you lose...

I always put my bags in or near the cubbies. Leaving stuff near or on tables is just plain rude IMO.

Going back on topic, I always boot up in the lodge...after going through getting my boots fitted, I'd like to avoid doing anything non-skiing that could abuse them.

Almost always in the lodge. I'll boot up at the car if I'm only skiing the morning or afternoon and don't plan on stopping for lunch.

Boots?

In the lodge. I do not like to struggle with stiff, cold, boots on slippery surfaces. I also don't put on my ski clothes until I am in the lodge. That means the boots need to go on last anyway.

In the lodge where it is warm. Nothing worse than putting on a cold boot for me. I get there early and don't miss any turns. Sometimes I'll take a break long enough to take the boots off and wear my street shoes for a few minutes.

BTW How in the world can anyone drive a car in ski boots? Even just a mile or two.

Bad news there GSS. Driving in boots is truly dangerous. You can easily slip off a brake pedal and inadvertantly hit the gas. Also, I'll bet money that you don't have a manual transmission.

I disagree. I've never had a problem driving with ski boots, and I drive a Suburban and get in and out of pretty tight spots in the parking lot.

The key is to not use your ankle, its impossible. You have to use your entire lower leg. Once you get the hang of it, it's fine.
