Boy, have I been slacking on my hiking TRs lately!
En route to dropping off my skis for major repair work at Sport Thoma in North Lincoln, I decided a quick hike up one of my favorite "short hike to a waterfall" trails was in order. The Coppermine Trail was in excellent condition as per usual with a few muddy spots. I established a fairly quick pace up the mellow trail, a former rail road bed. As many hikers on Sunday will recall, Sunday was a top five choice day of the Summer with bright blue skies and a really comfortable temp and relatively low humidity considering recent conditions. Unfortunately, the bright late morning lighting made for horrible photography conditions, but I shot a few of the falls before driving over to I-93 South via Wells Road to drop the skis off. One of my original draws to hiking in New Hampshire and the Whites was Waterfalls, and this remains one of my favorite short jaunts due to its closeness to my house: bed to trailhead in under an hour. My photos are nothing compared to those that Ski Report Observer recently shot, but here is what I took:
One of my favorite photo ops is this grand view of Mount Lafayette with Bald Rock in front from Wells Road. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing slightly, so the reflection was blurred. Two years ago, I took a real beauty at this location.
And finally, for your amusement, in Vermont, we brake for moose. Apparently, in ohio, they break for goose. This picture brought to you by our recent road trip and three days spent having a blast at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, home of more Roller Coasters than you can shake a stick at. Seriously, the most fun I have had off the snow in as long as I can remember.
