Went to Sunday River today. While it had fine cover went to ski the steeps on white heat to find it closed! They where farming the snow for some event this weekend which will use only the bottom of the hill and leave all of that peak closed for the season.

Glad Sugarbush is not mowing all their fine steep bumps! Plus they are staying open also, through April 27th and maybe weekends into May....

Thats fro heat harvest. They do it every spring now after the white heat quad is closed. If your into bumps white heat is not your trail anyway, go to agony,
downdraft or locke line.

SR had already decreased the number of lifts for the Spring Instaed of just letting the snow melt. They create the Heat Harvest and have an-invite only Superpark. The Videos and phots are great. Plus a bunch of east-coast kids to get show off their stuff and Meatheads and others film it.

My only issue with this event is that they don't allow spectators

Yes, was going to say that this will be the third year that they bulldoze the snow off White Heat to make that huge kicker...

They are allowing spectators this year... maybe not extreme up close... but close enough to see what's going on.

This is subject to change, but right now we are planning to have a night session at the base of White Cap in the location of the tubing park on Thursday night. 8-10 pm. Working on the prospect of a live band too. White Cap lodge will be open for restrooms only as Shipyard is now closed for the season. Credentials required to participate but you can come watch the best in the East try and one up each other while the cameras roll. Should be a pretty cool setup. Come on out to watch Thursday night! Daytime spectating is via the Heat's On trail to the bottom of lift 10 where the air features will be built just above. All lift 11 access to the daytime venue is with credentials only. See ya! AK
