PSIA = slow controlled moves; grace,finesse,calculated.

WC = Point,absorb and haul-ass!
In other words:

PSIA = surviving

WC = skiing.

You can still ski WC style slowly, with grace, finesse, and calculated moves, it's just a matter of how much you turn. And if you play a fast WC style in slow motion, that grace, finesse, and calculation is evident, just sped up.

I agree with taking lessons, just not from PSIA instructors. I've heard good things about Evan at Whaleback, there's a clinic at Kmart this weekend, and I might do the Mogul Logic camp at Sugarbush this spring (assuming there is one.) Clinics/camps are definately more $, but from what I've heard they're worth it if you really want to get better. I'm planning on hitting up a Blackcomb or Mt. Hood camp this summer for a week, admittedly partly to go skiing mid-summer.

find some seeded bumps to practice on.

now, usually i make fun of seeded bumps to get at our friend greg, but, for learning, i think they're great....evenly spaced, no icy drops off the back, easier.

Nothing for groomers. But they try to apply groomer technique to bumps. Doesn't work.

You know this how-----That makes no sense at all. The same skiing principles apply no matter what you’re skiing.

Not really. A&E, for example, has nothing to do with groomer skiing. It's only one of the bump skiing concepts that is completely foreign to, as Dan DiPiro calls them in his book, groomed-trail experts.

I'm sorry I thought this was at a novice or intermediate level---I was refering to balance, atheletic stance, being upfront/pushing toes forward, looking up and not down, etc...

Guess I got that idea from the OP, so that's why I still say all the same skiing princibles apply no matter what one is skiing.

Anyway, there has to be some level of A&E in groomer skiing or peeps would be flopin around like carp.

All great advice thanks everyone. DHS you gonna be at 10E tomorrow?

indeed

but probably not until around 11-11:30. My brother is coming down today to help with some things around the our place then have dinner here with us and J's sister and brother in law, so it could turn into a late night. Plus I'd rather let it warm up a little instead of heading out first thing when it will still be freezin.
