Had to work today..got out at 10 and headed for J with a quick stop in NHyde Park to carpool up. I had gotten reports from Stowe saying it was on with boot top to knee deep at the top of the gondi, but it was getting warm there and there were definitely people on the hill. As we got in the car we called an audible and went to Burke, hoping for less tracks and good cover. We were on skiis by noon and we were the only car in the lot. 10-14" of variable snow. Top third was wind affected but skiable with lots of wind sculpted drifts, other areas of trail, particularly on the face of the Mtn were scoured completely off. we focused on the skier's right side fo the hill for 3 laps. Challenging snow, but good cover and the fact that we were the only 2 people there skiing made us feel special. This place is such a stash, I have yet to be skunked on snow there. Fun terrain and great base building stuff....great to be on snow again.
some epic turns and some spooky skiing navigating a few scoured off sections of trail...we are primed for more snow, and I am more then ready to shred s'more. Classic fall day.
