I'm not a big fan of Burton boards... I do like the AK pants and Driver boots...

It's his company and can do what he wants with it. Is it sad to see people lose jobs because of this yes. Move on folks remember this is U.S of A. Cheaper labor overseas we can not compete with. Hmmmmm. I try to buy American products as much as i can, but the wallet says take the best deal. Remember this is U.S of A. We have gotten what we've asked for. Time for a change no doubt.

On a slightly related note, these people who lost their jobs should be able to qualify for the Trade Act, this allows for 3 years of unemployment, job training, college, etc..not sure how much this helps, I have this available to me now, but as with most government programs it can be a pain in the arse to deal with. I hope Burton applied for this for the sake of their employees.

When someone sets up roots, builds themselves up with your help, and then takes off, you could say "yeah, that persons a real jake-off", kinda catchy, no?
Or you could say that is what pretty much every major company that supplies us with goods does at some point as they grow... which usually has good results for most consumers but has the unfortunate side effect of some people loosing their jobs. A benefit for an overwhelming majority of people interested in that company (or who will become interested in the future) and a tragedy for a few likely hard working folks that are unfortunate consequences of macro scaled progress.

But as already noted in this thread, Burton is not going any where and only a few manufacturing jobs seem to be lost.
