Date(s) Skied: 12/28/09
Resort or Ski Area: Camelback
Conditions: Packed with some loose powder and some scratchy spots
Trip Report:
This was a teaching-the-kid-to-ski outing. My daughter is three and this was her fifth time on skis - second trip of this season. The plan was to arrive after 3pm for an afternoon session. I was expecting some holiday crowds but it seemed like mayhem when we got there at about 3:30. After a few minutes of wondering what I had gotten us into, we claimed a spot in the lodge (next to a guy sleeping on the floor), got dressed and went for it. We made our way up to the L7 / Meadows Triple lift and skied down The Meadows and Laurel Glade for a total of six runs with one hot-chocolate break. Even with the pandemonium in the lodge and base area, this lift and these two runs were not at all crowded and we had a great time. Conditions were a little scratchy but not really all that bad. I did see a long line for the main quad so if I had been skiing by myself, I'm sure I would have a different story. We pack-up and left at about 7:30 leaving the guy still sleeping on the floor.
