Winnchill works for www.snowforecast.com They exclusively are focused on higher elevation weather. The forecasts that most people see are for those in the flatlands (where the market is.) These people take Upslope into consideration, a big factor.
That, plus the NWS mountain and recreation forecasts for the higher summits do a pretty good job at sizing things up.
Yup, as a weather junkie of course I've always been highly tuned in to those. And that's what I'm talking about. They have been missing the ball big time this season so far. snowforecast is a great case in point. I'm not trying to dog on Winn since he's always done a great job and contributed a lot to this forum. But for the past several weeks their forecasts have been off in significant ways that really effect the decision making of powder chasers. So who else is there?
