Sunapee is further south and has a lower base elevation. While their management have invested more in snow making infrastructure than has been invested at Cannon, there could be non-managerial reasons that Sunapee is struggling. Waterville is a much better bench mark for Cannon as their vertical is fairly comparable and they are similar geographically with Cannon having an ever so slight edge to the north.

In my almost 40 years of skiing Cannon the tram base lodge has never been much of a food service/lounging area. The biggest downer about hanging there is no view of the mt at all.You can only look at the parking lot/highway.Its never had a good vibe and if your at that lodge your only a 6 minute ride to the summit where your on top of the world.

Went up today to ski the summit. Really good condition up top. The only thing is they have not blown Upper Ravine like website said. It is only blown to the Skylight entrance. They had only four or five guns going on Blue section of Lower Cannon that was all that was going on the main mtn. The rest was on the Tuckerbrook.

WTF!!!!! It was in the low 20's and that was all the guns going. Tramway looks like it will only need a little love with all the over blow from Upper Cannon.

Not a great showing for Cannon... only 16 trails open for Christmas week. Nice that they got the summit going finally. I blew past Cannon this morning and hit Smuggs. Ropes dropping left and right, boot deep with knee deep drifts. Coming home on 93, Cannon looked like a sad sight. They need to get their snow making act together, no excuse at this point.

Sunapee just opened another trail for tomorrow. What are they doing?

This is turning into Kton bit$h fest.

Two more things

Why does let their whales drawn for double the time other resorts do? Am I wrong?

Do not post that you are blowing a trail unless you are. Upper Ravine and Gremlin have only seen the entrances blown.

Okay three things, install a permanent fan gun at the tree island of Big Link

Oh four thing, why is a fan gun at 20F putting out wet god da$m snow!

I read on their FB that they had to use the Tram for summit access at sometime this weekend (Cannonball down or something) so they were shuttling people from Peabody to the tram. Blow the darn cutback!

Looks like they are going to hit Tuckerbrook area to get some more beginner terrain for this coming week. Maybe the front five with have something in addition to Gary's in 2013. Actually, looks like they might get saved by some natural snow later this week.

Since I am on roll. I pull into my usual spot by Zoomer at about 8:30. I know late for me. I Get booted up and start walking and notice there is a huge line. The lift had been stopped for 15 minutes. It gets better. I decide to head to the top catch what is left. No much. I take about four runs and notice the HSQ is not running and empty. I ask the liftie. He said it was going to be down the rest of the day. They did shuttle people to the Tram to ski summit. That is when I left there were too many wahoos for two runs. I did read that they got it running again after 1pm though.

Cannonball was fine. It was the HSQ. I have seen them light the whole front five with temps in the teens. I am hoping that Thrus. does hit though.

Well, that is good of them to make an alternative plan for when the main lift went down. They didn't have to do that and could have just sent people to Gary's via Eaglecliff. Still doesn't count as a Tram opening, though. They really should have the Tram open for Christmas... it is a huge marketing piece of Cannon. Unless it is an early season fail for snowmaking temps, if the summit is open then the Tram should be open too.

Weird day out at Cannon today. Don't get me wrong, they were working hard to make snow and correct lift issues. Some confusing logistics and poor communication. Made it tough for family skiing.

Has threecy been dabbling in Voodoo or something?

Where were you? Five guns on the main mountain does not count as working hard. There is somethng wrong.

Yes, it was top to bottom. One thing that Cannon really seems to lack is modern gun technology besides the fan guns scattered around the mountain. All the other guns seem to be portable ones on stands. Do they have any tower guns?
