USAA members for 25 years...pay $2200/year in MA for 3 cars and one inexperienced driver. When I first had a car out of college I paid about the same amount for just that one car. Driving record's been clean for the past 10 years.

I've never shopped around, but I've had good service so no real reason unless it were a lot cheaper.

I think the membership requirements have loosened up a lot so I don't know how much of a military affiliation is needed anymore.

I do carry high deductibles, which hurt a bit for my last incident (deer strike). Plan to reduce the comprehensive deductible which will cost around another $70/year.

I'm not government/military so I can't get USAA. I'm not in New Jersey so I can't get New Jersey Manufacturers. Amica is the other highly rated insurance company. I've been using them for years. I'm sure I could pay a little less elsewhere if I got quotes from everybody but what matters is that your insurance company doesn't jerk you around if you ever have to make a claim.

Here are the JD Power ratings.

I go thru an agent(my uncle) so I am not so worried with me having to deal with the insurance companies. If I needed anything in the past I just give him a call and let him deal with them.

Agent here too, and definitely like not having to deal with insurance companies. Also, my wife and I pay $654.00 a year for full coverage on 2 new cars. Based on this thread and conversations with friends, it sounds like we are doing pretty well.

I'm not either but my father and my wife's father were both Navy commanders so we both have USAA numbers that we got when we were children. We've had all of our insurance with USAA for over 25 years. As well as investments and banking tooo. Awesome company in every way!

Just in case anyone didn't know in the past USAA was for Officers only, now they've opened up membership to anyone who was ever in the military. I got my boss in since he was in the Air Force back in the 1970s.

live in MA and have commerce Insurance, pay $845.00 a year for a commercial truck and a car,It is not a minimum policy, over 60 and no accidents or speeding tickets. never made a claim so have no idea about customer service and I do check insurance rates every couple of years just to keep them honest in their charges.

I remember USAA, Geico, and Progressive were all around the same price, which was half of what I was paying before when I switched. I get a company group rate now with my current employer though so the rate is still pretty good considering I have 1 or 2 speeding tickets still haunting my rates.

I'm with Geico. For 2 cars (1 brand new) I'm paying about $1300 for 6 months with a $500 deductable. I have to carry maximum liability insurance because of an umbrella policy on my house. This is living in NYC which I hear has some of the highest rates in the country. Believe it or not my insurance has actually gone down. I was paying over $1800 for 6 months for the same coverage a couple years ago. My wife & I both have a clean driving record & a 22 year old daughter with a clean record on the policy also.

Not sure how it works now but when I had an at-fault accident in 2001 it stayed on my insurance record for six years...:x
