no contest, pow and a friend. if this poll had been a pow day solo or a decent conditions with a friend, it would require a little more thought.

I was thinking the same thing.

Pow+1 was an easy choice for me.

I hate skiing powder in a group because if I'm not hauling ass...some of my freshies get stolen..At Jackson Hole I was on one of the first gondolas on a powder day and one of the guys in the gondola car was on his walking talkie telling his friend who was in line at the base that he's wait for him at the top. I cringed inside...then clicked in and was off into some fresh Poe. On Powder days I'm so freaking frantic..I want all the powder for me. I'm a glutton..and arrive at the ski area an hour early. There's nothing worse than sloppy seconds..it happened to me plenty of times in college when I had a 9:00AM exam before I could get up to the mountain...Sure you can always find freshies in the woods and on closed trails later in the day but it's great to have a whole trail of fresh right in front of you right under the lift and be greeted to the hoots and hollers from the peanut gallery above..Powder to the People..Holla

Hard to beat a powder day. But I like meeting up with people so it would be a tough call.

My wife's favorite prediciment for me is to decide between having two georgous redheads or 18" of powder at Sugarloaf.

No contest, snow will always win out.

As I told her last week, my first true love is in the forecast, so I must leave you with Warren in tow.

  • Fresh Powder - A day of skiing in 1+ feet of fresh untracked powder with one other person.
  • Good Friends - A day of skiing with 10 of your best ski buddies, in good conditions, 100% cover, mostly groomed, glades, etc.....

Those are bad poll choices, how about:

- fresh foot of snow, skiing alone
OR
- good conditions with 2-3 buddies

I for one do not have 10 best ski buddies

I had to add one, cause I always ski with my wife, just not the same without her. Even if a pow day is always good, it's always better to have someone to share it with, at least for me anyway. As far as the 10 friends go, at it as a group of friends, lets say 3 or more. 10 for me was just an arbitrary number to indicate a group, sorry.

Now there are many many forms of fresh snow. But true, blower POW is a rare thing indeed....at least in the east. Tuesday was that day. In those conditions it's pretty much understood. Have a great run and I'll see ya at the top. It's all about flow when conditions are right, and while keeping a safe watch on your crew is important, when it's THAT good, you gotta just keep rolling and pick up the pieces when the smoke clears. I'll take champaign, and hope my good friends got their fill too.

Pow solo over non-pow with friends every time. Like others have said before, any body I ski with regularly with say the same and I would take no offense. Though powder with friends is the best.

I'm just trying to figure out how many AZers think skiing powder is better than sex.

As my friend Rasta Bill says - Sex you can always get. Even good sex is avalible all year long. But a good powder day is rare. You don't just get it whenever you want.

As was said, no friends on a powder day. You can be friendly on the lift ride.
