I really like the people of Minneapolis and surrounding Minnesota. They really get into winter. I spent last weekend there. The people and I are of one mind. It got into the 30's Saturday and everybody was commenting about how "hot" it was. Nobody was hopefully whining about "spring must be just around the corner.

Sunday morning in the city, everyone was outside. Playing serious hockey on the pond (lines marked, snowpiles for buttress), ice skating, winter kite festival, ice castle, snow sculpting (awesome), really impressive snow and awesome Snow sculpting, tons of runners (amazingly they all jogged on sidewalks, not in the street!), US Pond Hockey Championships,

The Kiteboarding on the frozen lake was wicked cool. You slide across the ice on your boots. These dudes were really moving fast, tearing downwind for about a mile!

Parks and Recreation doesn't go into hibernation. There are a lot of fun things to do in the winter.

Makes New England look like dullsville.

My host was giving me a tour about town, and thought it was getting a bit too hot at 35F, so she opened the sunroof on her car. Nice!

Coupled with the super-friendly people, it's my kind of place. Too bad the hills are only 400 feet vertical!

Not that I like it, but New Englanders pride themselves on their ability to whine about so many things... :argue::roll:

my non-skiing relatives and friends drive me crazy with all their whining about the snow and the cold. Hello? It's New England. Either find a way to enjoy it like I do or shut up and deal with it.

Try dealing with the same level of whining with significantly less amounts of snow here in Jersey. Honestly, with the way people carry on in the winter here, you'd think it was North Carolina. I curse my wife everyday for making me move down here.

Minneapolis is a great town I lived there for over 10 years. Midwesterners are one of the nicest people you could meet. I still have lots of family there and have thought of moving back but the cost of living is pretty high and no skiing. Very pretty place as well.

x2. Or move to FLA. I never understood the winter whining. It's been cold here in the winters for a long time...get used to it.

What drives me crazy is the news people on TV who just beam when the weather is going to be warm and howl when its going to be cold and snowy. Funny thing is they react the same way in the summer when it gets too hot.

One of the moms at the bus stop was complaining that it was cold today, it was 40 degrees! This after 5 weeks of high temps in the single digits to the 20's. I decided not to tell her that I'm looking forward to it getting cold again.

Funny that's one of the things i like MOST about living here in 'The North Country " as its called . Folks embrace the winter and cold as kind of a badge of membership in the clan of rugged individualism . Its often said we get 6 month of winter and 6 month of BAD sledding :D

The commentary @ the local diner from our ice fishing and snowmobilers often goes something like this when the metro regions weather guessers are obsessing about a storm -- Why them city folk are worried bout a little 'sugar snow -- damn fools " " How cold did it git at yer place last nite ??pshaw it was ONLY 25 below !!! well at my place it was colder than a well digger's ass " :D: D

nothing wrong with ac just that i think people get dependent on it (unless your eldrely). it almost becomes addictive. i embrace it a bit and then notice its not that bad when i go from place to place. but it is nice on those 95 degree humid days. living on a lake i just jump in.
