Anyone there and no why Jupiter's is closed? Surprising

The webcam had dirt spots this morning that appear to be covered by new snow. This storm looks to be going too far east to give them 3-6" like originally thought.

Jupiter's was open tonight, but was VERY icy even with the new snow. Was still snowing lightly when I left at 10:15pm, probably 4-5" new. The new snow skied very well on the rest of the trails, had a great 4 hrs of POWDER! Ok, it wasn't the light fluffy stuff, but it was still POWDER! Another good sign, the ponds are full for next weeks cold spell. Also, the Rocket ran fine.

I went over last night to take advantage of the $25 pm to 3 am "block party"ticket. My son, his two friends and I skied and rode from about 7 to midnight. What a ball! As quit man said above, it snowed the whole time, conditions were pretty great (in comparison to what I've experienced my last few times out at mount snow). It was true that jupiters was a slanted skating ring...had to point downhill and hope for the best. The rest of the trails ranged from a bit scratchy to really quite good soft chopped up new snow. The view from up on the hill was awesome...for the event they built a huge bonfire at the base, parked two snow cats with lights flashing, and rolled in the Red Bull DJ sound truck to play tunes at the bottom of a park trail. Looked really cool from above. I was worried that the midnight madness crowd would be a bunch of obnoxious drunks, but the scene and the vibe was great. I wasn't at all concerned about my 13 year old and his friends riding with the crowd that was there. Favorite trails were UFO and upper park (no features yet...had great sections of 1-2 inches of fresh to play in. I'll definitely be returning to Crotched in the future. Totally worth the 1:20 drive , esp on a holiday weekend when I don't want to go near Mountain Snow.

Jupiter's is the only trail on the mountain that's icy pretty much most of the time; at least that's been the case when I've visited. I think because it's the only trail with decent pitch, it gets a fair amount of lower level skiers and riders that skid down the steep section and scrape the snow off. Maybe the wind whips a bit more across it as well?

They should just seed some bumps on it to solve the problem. :daffy:
