I've been living in Boston for over 20 years now and I have yet to find a pizzeria that I really like.
I don't really care for the thin crust style pizza which seems to be the predominat style around here.

Also, so many local shops in the various Boston neighbourhoods are ran by Greeks and these folks really don't know didly squat about how to make a quality product. They all must be using the same suppliers (like Cisco foods) because the pizza is the exactly the same crap wheather I go to Olympic Pizza in Hyde Park or some joint out in Melrose.

Does anyone make good pizza in Boston?

Have you tried the North End? And ya Greeks can't do pizza.

Ironic, since they invented it, and all...

Thin, all the way. New Haven style pizza rules it.

This. A thousand times, this. Pepe's, Modern Apizza...
I also am a HUGE fan of American Flatbread. All organic. Probably my all-around favorite.

I either prefer a flat bread of some sort or a really thick crust - two different experiences entirely. I'm less of the fan of I guess 'medium' crust

I really can't vote in this thread. Though I guess I do lean towards thicker crusts, it's hard for me to pick one over the other. It's like asking someone to pick which one of their kids is their favorite, or for those without kids; which one of their kidneys...

I like the crust I make at home best. Because I know I wash my hands before I make it. Restaurants, you just never know.

I was stretching some dough tonight for dinner and thought the same thing. Besides the hand washing, the arm/hand hair bugs me out. I use the backs of my hands to rotate and stretch the dough, much like you would see in a pizza joint. Imagine getting some dirty Italian's arm hair on your slice. I can say that since I'm 100 Italian. ;-)

Damn it, you know how hard it's going to be to make my own crust and then transfer the toppings from the pizza I ordered from now on????

Is New Haven the only place in the world where a pizza place is "apizza place"?

Never mind. I'm going skiing at "Amountain".

I've often wondered that myself. I think that they spell it as they hear it, with the Italian accent in place. "Hey, Sal...you wannna apizza?" "Yeah, Vinnie, I lika apizza-pie."

Pizza facts and trivia!

If pizza from your favorite pizzeria is on your Halloween dinner or party menu, beware: Halloween is the third busiest pizza day of the year. So place your order early and be prepared to wait. Pizza may be fattening and not a staple of any nutritious diet known to man, but it's perfect for those days when we're too busy to cook or have too many people to feed. It's cheap, easy to serve and ideal for large groups.

And that is precisely why the top 5 pizza sales days are:
1. Super Bowl Sunday
2. New Year's Eve
3. Halloween
4. The night before Thanksgiving
5. New Year's Day
Fun facts to know and tell about pizza, according to FranchiseHelp and USA Today:

--94 percent of Americans eat pizza regularly.
--93 percent of Americans have eaten pizza in the last month.
--Pizza is America's fourth most-craved food, behind cheese, chocolate and ice cream.
--Americans consume over 100 acres of pizza a DAY, about 350 slices per second. And that's on a regular day--not Super Bowl Sunday or Halloween!
--Pizza accounts for more than 10 percent of all food service sales. --Approximately 3 billion pizzas are sold in the United States each year.
--On Super Bowl Sunday, pizza delivery drivers can expect $2 tips to sometimes soar as high as $20.
--Delivery sales of pizza spike the most during close Super Bowl games.
--There are approximately 61,269 pizzerias in the United States. These pizzerias represent 17 percent of all restaurants.
--Frozen pizzas that could be purchased in grocery stores were first introduced in the United States in 1957 and soon became the most popular of all frozen food.

Santarpio's (Look to your right as you exit the Callahan Tunnel.)

I don't know what happened to the link display. Santarpio's

Sled beat me to it. IMO, it is the best pizza around.

Also, I really can't believe they a website. I have to say that I'm sort of disappointed. I want the Gerber bottle cheese shakers back. Whats next, taking Credit Cards?!
