In a few minutes david blaine is attempting to hold his breathe for 9 minutes or so. i have seen programs that unleased his secretes such as when he locked himself in the ice, its all fake.

Well i have to go watch it but what are everyone's thoughts on magic?

Magic

I don't like magic. I think the turning point was a David Copperfield thing we happened upon on TV, where he had playing cards on the tv screen and somehow he figured out "my" card. That really ticked me off, and that is when I realized why I didn't like magic. I HATE not knowing the logistics of how it's done. It must be the Type A/Control person I am. I like things logical and orderly. Magic is neither of those. I like those shows that tell you how the stunts are done. I feel vindicated after being duped.

Oh wait you didn't mean the mountain... :dunce:

I like watching the magic acts and trying to figure out how they do it, I, too, like the specials where they reveal how it was done. :)

There is no real magic, it's all smoke and mirrors. Maybe 20 years ago a buddy was hanging out at Grand Canyon NP after ski season and watched them making a David Copperfield special. It was on the edge of the south rim. He said they used these huge mirrors. when he saw it on tv later he was blown away how real they made it look even tho it was all a set-up, fake city, another scam gobbled up by the bored and clueless. Wasted use of electricity watching that stuff on TV.

This Thursday is the last episode of That 70's Show. Now that's entertainment..

Good point, SRO. If anyone here thinks that any of the stuff Blane or anyone else does is anything more than illusion and misdirection, then I would prefer if you say so now, so I can avoid being near you during potentially hazardous activities like driving, skiing and walking. And talking to you.

I love magic... Sure it's fake but so are movies...
Even though they're fake - they are still entertaining...

You people need to let go and just enjoy things... :)

Guess it depends on your definition of entertainment.

To me, watching a guy hold his breath and turn blue in a sphere of water is about as entertaining as watching paint dry.

Pro wrestling is fake, but because it's just so over the top it is entertaining.
