Looks like I'll be able to grab a day tomorrow and I'm trying to decide between MRG and Stowe. Day trip and both are pretty much equally as far a drive for me, 3 hrs. I'm not a woods skier yet (low advanced is how I'd rate myself) and realize all on-piste trails will have been long tracked out but I can more than content myself skiing leftover deepish on trail edges with the occasional stash here and there.

Pro Stowe: I've never been, and tomorrow is the last day for $54 lift tickets -- I called yesterday and they're bumping up prime season by a week because of conditions. I gather they'll have about 2/3 of their terrain open/lift-accessible tomorrow, so it would be a good chance for me to check out this renowned mountain for $25-30 less than normal.

Con Stowe: I'm not looking for groomers. Don't know what crowds might be like. Less likely to find any stashes at all as they've been open all week. Unfamiliarity might mean I don't 100% maximize my time on the slopes.

Pro MRG: Numerous obvious reasons and I'm familiar with the place. I love bumps but am mighty curious to see MRG with them formed barely if at all.

Con MRG: None I can think of. Webcam indicates minor line for the single right now and I suspect the "crowd" might be a little larger than usual for a weekday today because it's opening day, first spin for the new single, and fresh conditions.

Great dilemma to have ... Thoughts anyone?

Stowe. The overall base will probably be more built up and I know people are already hittin the woods there. You can still get to MRG later for a reasonable price; Not so Stowe.

I wouldn't worry about MRG "crowds" any day, even weekends. I like MRG better on weekends than Stowe, with regards to attendance.
