I am not trying to turn this to a political discussion.

In my area there is a house with campaign signs for the local government elections and also "Impeach Obama"_ and "Dump Dodd" mixed between them.

I have been approached by my "party" to post signs in my yard. I decline as nobody needs to know my political affiliation or views. Who I vote for is nobody's business but my own. As for the signs in general, I can not stand them. I HATE even more when I vote and I am approached by a "party" sticking the signs in front of me as I walk to the "safety zone" where they are not allowed.

I also ripped the pool company's sign down when they were doing the pool.

EDIT: The more signs I see for one person, the least likely they will get my vote. I feel if you have to spend the money to plaster your name out there it makes me think you will have no problem spending my tax dollars if / when you do get elected.

They should be fined for every sign every day past election day that they're still up.

Can we make a similar rule for bumper stickers?

I really don't give a shit who people voted for in 2000....seriously.

We have a fairly tight-knit neighborhood. For the most part, people lean toward centrist to left-of-center views. The couple next to us are great folks. And they are also ardent republican supporters. Typically, over neighborhood chat/beers sessions we agree to disagree and move on.

During the week preceding lasts years presidential election, they went away for the weekend. While hanging with the neighbors chatting and throwing a few beers down (and a few more) that Friday, we got the bright idea to collect all the elect-obama signs and put them up on their lawn. Looked like the DNC center. Pretty hilarious.

They still talk about it. Good times.

Today's the day they wave those campaign signs in your face. Can't wait. Tomorrow, none of it matters anymore and it all becomes litter...
