A response in another thread got me thinking. After a dump, I like most everyone else, love to get that fresh in the trees. Invariably, as more and more skiers go through bumps will form. That doesn’t spoil my fun though. I’d still rather ski untracked lines, but when that is no longer possible I still enjoy the bumped up woods. How about you?

Since this is the condition in which I do the vast majority of my tree skiing... um. Yeah. I do.

I mean, the trees are either fresh, or bumped (or 'tracked out'), since you can't groom glades.

So an enthusiastic yes from me.

Yeah, I love a solid bumped up tree run. I also prefer untracked trees to bumped trees, but I'd much prefer bumped trees to tracked out, crud, or hardpack trees.

Of course, I'd still prefer a fresh coating on a good bump run to any kind of trees. But I'm a rare breed like that.

That's a big 10-4
For me, bumped up trees are more fun than just bump runs. Obviuosly in the trees you're keeping your head up looking for spaces, and for some reason in "just" bump runs I get lazy resulting in the back seat mode. Not sure if that's whay but kinda makes sense to me.

I like smooth snow in the trees the best..lightly travelled trees which I prefer don't get bumped up...but alot of the on the map stuff at Jay Peak and Stowe do..

Same here, my thoughts exactly. I will take powder any where, but once the powder is gone, I still love to hit the woods with or without the bumps. I actually prefer completely natural non-bumped packed powder compared to bumps, but when everything is played out, I still stay in the woods when they are bumped.

For some reason I look totally out of place on a mogul run. But put me in the woods on tree moguls and I can make it down not looking like a total noob. Dont know why but it happens. I love the woods, its nice and peicefull with out tons of people flying all around you.

Although I'm not much of a big bump skier anymore, I do enjoy "tree" bumps especially in the soft spring snow!!

Here's a great picture of some "tree" bumps from Jay Peak 2007-04-21

Yeah I'd rather ski a bumped up tree run than true mogul run. Something to do with the crowd factor I think? I seem to be able to pace myself much better in the woods without so much going on, compared to the trails. Also tree bumps usually seem softer than the other kind, be it from less traffic or other factors. It's all good...in the woods

I prefer 'natural' bumps to 'seeded' bumps, so if I can't float untracked through the trees, umbs in the trees are fine unless glazed with blue ice.
