Hey All,

Do you ski with a cell phone or an I-pod? I like skiing with an I-pod and I have it blasting pretty loud because when you're skiing 40mph+ it's necassary. I keep my cell phone in my call when I ski because I don't want to be distracted..but when i go hiking I bring it along...

Ipod on solo days. I like it more for the lonely lift rides than for cruising trails. Cell phone is always on me. If I'm away from wifey I need to be accessible (not complaining)

Cell, yes. iPod, no. Don't make many calls, but it's a good way to get in touch with other AZers and as a way for my wife to contact me if need be.

just got an i-pod for christmas, have helmets with built in earphones...not sure how I'm feeling about skiing with tunes yet...somedays I really enjoy it, other days I feel like I'm missing the sound of the wind in my ears, skis on the snow, etc. I like the background music on the lift though...not so loud than you can't hear budies on the lift, but good vibes going. Cell phone...always with me now that I'm a dad...before fatherhood it stayed in the car.

Ipod playing through my helmet speakers. So much better than headphones. No ipod on crowded weekend trails and never at new mountains.

Cell phone can stay in the car always.

I also have a helmet with speakers built into that hooks up to my MP3 player and a 2-way radio. The cell stays in the jeep, I never have signal on my home mountain anyway.

Cell phone, in case I get creamed by some iPodhead who isn't paying any attention and need to call for help.

Cell phone, in case the wife needs to get in touch with me. Or to call her at work and tell her how good the conditions are, though for some reason it doesn't seem that she likes those calls.;-)

funny... I've never crashed into anyone while blasting tunes... I visually aware and faster then most... PLUS I'm pretty dyslexic - so call out "on your right" and I turn right into ya... Also ski with a girl thats deaf... She doesnt hit anyone either...

I keep my phone with me, but keep it off while I'm on the slopes, as for music, I'll occasionally bring a little mp3 player with me, but usually I just like the silence.

it's the slower folks who can't hear "on your right/left" since they have an ipod blasting that are more of an issue.

I've never skied with tunes, would rather hear what's going on around me. might be nice for lift rides tho.

Cell phone for emergencies, and yes, I've used it to get patrol for a bad crash.
Shuffle, but not turned up very loud. I can hear people behind me.

Cell phone, wallet, sometimes camera, often water/gatorade, chapstick, extra clothing (gloves, face masks, etc.) That's usually about it.
