Just checking if anyone heads up to Killington in the summer from here. I heard they used to have a great summer scene, but it is definitely pretty dead in the summer up there these days. The mountain biking is great as are some of the swimming holes we've found. If anyone is ever up biking let me know!

I get a condo at Killington for the month of August. It is very quiet most of the time but they have a lot of stuff to do in the day. My kids love it. I don't do any biking though. I hike and maybe play a round of golf. A few years back I went up for 5 or 6 days and when I got there I found out that for an extra couple of hundred bucks you can get a place for the whole month. Can't beat the deal and the weather is great up there in the summer.

Yes, I'll be up probably the second weekend of August for mountain biking with five or six other guys. Most of the good bars are only winter (Pickle Barrel, Wobbly), but summer is the time for relaxing, not partying. After biking for the day, we get some beers and food, and cook, fix our bikes, and chill.

In the past we've hiked the Long Trail up to K-Peak for the annual "Snow God Prayer Ceremonies"… I haven’t felt the need to go there to bike, play golf or tennis…

Wow, that does sound like a good deal. I love to get a good deal on everything. The problem with that is sometimes it paralyzes me from taking action and I let a good deal go while waiting for a better deal. I hate that about myself. I don't mean small purchases, just big ones.

I'd recommend the mountain biking there, Charlie. Just avoid the fire roads. They have some stellar single track, all of it very well maintained.

The also cut four or five brand new single track runs that were soft and still full of topsoil last year, but should be quite good this year. Their crew does a good job and their bike shop guys are cool and laid back. We've borrowed tools (and even parts) on a number of occasions from them. It's quite laid back in the summer time there.

is it Downhill like at attitash or cross country you do?

I've never been to attitash, but from a video I've seen of there from one of our members, I'd say there's probably less free ride stuff at K.

I prefer the narrow, twisting, technical single track myself anyway, since I have basically a cross country rig, despite it being full suspension. But, it's all downhill (well most of it).
