Does it always piss hot rain right before or on Christmas in eastern ski country or does if just seem that way?

Season sux so far round these parts.
Last seasons opening was the bomb.
So far..this is a dud spud.
What are these parts?

I've already had two ski days with conditions and terrain better than ANYTHING I skied on the east coast all last year.

so josh fox is starting to talk about a good pattern setting up for xmas, and the gfs is definitely starting to show a storm train beginning around 12/20...

also webcams this morning, not so bad. the stratton summit cam even shows snow off in the distance down low. looks like the snowpack took the rain in stride.

i for one plan to go rip groomers this weekend. i have new 'skinny' skis (92s) and i havent had a chance to ski them on a groomer yet bc ive been too busy skiing early season pow! what a world.

Yup, but looks like one more warm and damp day first next Tuesday after a frigid weekend. Should see lots of snowmaking, just sucks it will all likely get water injected again early next week.

Too funny
Certainly don't trust Fox News for much these days....
Especially the weather. Lots of better places to get accurate and up to date weather info

Huh? He said Josh Fox, not Fox News. Very different and nothing to do with each other.

i think he may be saying josh fox is basically as trustworthy as fox news?

if he does think i am talking about fox news, lol. i dont think the fox cable news network would be covering the favorable flow for the northeast ski country over xmas

i have always found the single chair weather blog to be a pretty benign source. maybe a little hope-timistic.

Right where I want to be
Saw Bolton did get some backend snow yesterday. Not all negative.
Temps in central NH never climbed as much as they were saying it would. Still snow in my yard and spots on my driveway that I half assed cleaned up after the other day as I thought it was going to be in the 50’s

I like FOX WEATHER, they always have the time on the screen. And the weather is the weather.

NARRATOR VOICE: (it's not coming now)

Four to Nine inches isnt going to do much of anything here. There's practically bare ground all over equaling like a "3 inch base" (if that's even a thing). We need multiple 12 to 18 inch dumps soon. Even Snowbird's only at 14% open, and I'm guessing some of that 14% is a bit "adventurous". Park City's at 5% open. Status report = dire.

It was nowhere near this bad. I was skiing trees by now. Silver lining on a selfish level is early season all I really intended on doing was getting the little one back up to snuff & remember what she learned last year so she's ready to go for her locals clinics which start in January. To Vail's credit, they have put out a very good man-made product IMHO given there's been a Poconos level of snowfall thus far. The few beginner & intermediate trials that are open are skiing surprisingly well.

The curse of the Poconos is everywhere lol. Pretty bleak here right now with WROD skiing this weekend.

I know in Colorado the skiing was decent over Thanksgiving but not much has happened since then. Hopefully things start to turn around soon.
