Yeah maybe having this negative event now will clear the decks for a decent Christmas week.

Yeah too early. This would be like a krampusnacht piss storm, for those who celebrate.

but it does fit the pattern. Great early season conditions everywhere (except the bush) , then deluge, then brutal and quick freeze.

Truthfully I am guessing that many a mtn ops head who's resort has made a bunch of snow since Thanksgiving and now has a greatly depleted snowmaking pond and limited water flow in the source for their snowmaking ponds, is actually more happy than not about the storm on Wednesday. Should get the stream/river flow rates up, even with a quick freeze up after

I gave up last year on Christmas week. We spent the week in New Orleans with my best friend. This year we are at Palisades with another friend celebrating his birthday. Whatever the conditions are there it should be better than what we will have here.

Well, now they post the Flood Watches. NWS now calling for potential 2-4" of liquid. Very similar setup to the two liquid storms last December. I will hope this one performs like the first of those two (much less liquid than forecast) than the second (well, we all know how that one went. Especially in the trained precip bands).

It's the eastern roller coaster, up down, up down. I think over the years its probably about 75 to 80 percent of the time it rains around Christmas. Makes sense December is a changeable month from fall to winter. All the forecasts I saw called for a warm fall and that's what we had. It's not all bad though as I just recently saw a mid-long range forecast that showed some decent cold and snow for New England over the next 45 days (takes it out to about Feb 1st) Of course the next down will be the annual inevitable "January Thaw" a Northeastern tradition (like the Army-Navy game). Then I don't know but it seems to me the "back half" of the winter (Feb-March) always seems to perform better then the front.

Whites dry slotted long enough for a half dozen mid afternoon hot laps at loon. Thus far, this is not the December washout of the last few years. Minimal loss of man made, natural snowpack also hanging on. Who knows what tonight brings but a hard freeze may setup the base for the season.

Tonight is about files, stones and guides - tomorrow is going to be fast.

We' re okay; not warm enough to cause major melting. Stop the FOG>

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone, alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

I challenge Hannah Karney to a ski off. She must have lost a step?
