Does it always piss hot rain right before or on Christmas in eastern ski country or does if just seem that way?

There are places back home in Jersey currently flooding that I've never heard of flooding before in my life. Must have been horrendous rainfall.

Fellow CT'er here - thinking of hitting the mighty Snow on Wed. despite the carnage because it will be my last chance to "shred" anything before the holiday mayhem ensues - what does your crystal ball predict it will look like?
My full time resident friends up there via social media have inferred that essentially all the natural snow is gone, but the snowmaking trails from what they could see visibility wise from their homes near the mountain, looks like they faired ok... I will say that from my experience on the hill this season that they seem like they've put down a greater amount of snow in their efforts to open up a trail this season than in past years, and if that's the case, that decision may very well have been a wise one, if their trail count comes through relatively unscathed, and they can resurface and work on new terrain... heck from the limited look into terrain in Sunbrook this past weekend, whale wise it seems like without too much more snowmaking, they can get that 4th mtn face open soon, even after today's UGLY weather..

Firm and fast for a few days is the likely story, and when the temps drop tomorrow at somepoint, 99.99% sure they will have their mighty snowmaking system maxed out any and every moment the next 2 weeks

Ok thanks, appreciate the eyes-on insight...no expectations beyond just having SOMETHING doable under the boards. Seeing the temps I imagine they'll be blowing pretty much all day and night tmw.

Sunday River lost a bridge. Think it's the one headed toward the golf course and Oz. Sunday River Rd. Hopefully if it's not on the access Rd toward the SR Brew Pub, Could take a few days to make something passable.

It looks like Monkey Brook? Where SR Rd and Bear River Rd fork to go out to Frenchman's hole. Not the main area. Still there's another grand hotel out there...

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
ya this stinks. this weekend was already a no-ski for me. mother-in-law is visiting 12/21-26, but i have grand plans for eastern skiing 12/27-31, and right now it all looks rather shite. may have to do the fucking tremblant thing again. also was scoping hotels near st anne and massif. hate paying for a lift ticket, but if thats where the snow is...

flights to anyplace ski-able 12/26-31 are a bad joke. add in cars and hotels and the jokes get worse. some friends in bozeman i could impose upon i guess...

every time i have ever had intentions on sugarloaf and saddleback, the universe has other plans for me it seems

Big Sky in as bad of shape as the East. Their snotel site is at a record low for Dec 18.

add waterville to the list, does not sound good

saddleback, sugarloaf and pleasant also closed. The SR FB fans page is rough to look at. water pouring out of B6, access road gone, comp center mudslide.
Is there a way to link or screenshot some of those posts? I don’t have FB or Instagram so I cannot see the damage posts. Thank you.

The Saco was the second biggest since they started recording. Bigger than hurricane irene. They had a helicopter doing rescues last night in Conway.

Is it bad enough to convince Vail to sell their MWV properties?

Looking for potential silver linings from this catastrophe.
I would love to see what they have for insurance for events like this. The roll out for Wildcat opening the mountain makes no sense. Finance rule: strike while the irons hot and pick low hanging fruit. Even if they can justify slowly opening the hill on paper, no way the marketing makes sense. Companies sometimes piss of customers, butt these guys are pissing off the entire ski world.

Sugar Loaf on average skis much better in March. 😺

They probably have insurance on top of insurance

This looks worse than last year.

No new snow here in over a week. Going on three weeks since our last significant snow storm. Plus I spent the last week sick. So not much better here.
