Have you done it?

read an article today that talked about someone literally causing a pileup by driving with their ski boots on.

I can't even comprehend it. When I'm done skiing nothing feels better than taking my boots off and swapping them with some sneakers. Getting in a car and driving with them seems torturous to me. I don't care if I was going one mile down the road.

I have driven from Killington to Pico wearing 1 ski boot. Probably doesn't count.

This was discussed in a thread very recently. I always thought it was a joke, but yet there were about 4 or 5 people here who fessed-up to actually doing it.

After lunch to get a close up parking spot sure. On roads, not so much.

Did it once at Jay Peak a bunch of years ago. Our condo didn’t have mountain access so got dressed and drove to the base. Do not recommend.

Nordic & tele boots? All the time.

Alpine boots? Never.

(I’m not even sure I can get my legs in the car with boots on without pushing the seat back first... wait, ok I’m short)

This is like admitting that you drink straight out of the milk carton from the fridge.

I have driven down Little Cottonwood Canyon about a half dozen times with alpine ski boots on. Usually it's because I was in a hurry and/or it was really cold and I didn't feel like waiting for my boots to thaw to get them off. I've never done it for more than about a 20 minute drive or with anyone else in the car - because they'd make me wear a dunce cap if I got caught. Driving down LCC doesn't require a lot of footwork if you use low gear for the curves.

Love the pic Jimk....

Yes I am one of those who will drive with ski boots on. Very specific situation - Bromley condo to Magic and back. Dry pavement. Light out. One stop sign, no stop lights. 2 turns. One place to slow down. Back roads. 10 miles. It’s actually pretty easy. And the skill will come in very handy this year with no lodge access.

Depends on the car, SUV's and mini vans where you sit more upright it's not that difficult. Sedans and coupes are much more difficult. Automatic transmission obviously is needed.
