Have heard in the past that sometimes some of the skia areas out West have limited seasons due to National Forest guidelines. Not sure how much this would cut a season short. Reason for asking is that I'm trying to get something out of my timeshare and April seems more available tham February or March.

Looking at tahoe and Salt Lake areas...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Snowbird stays open the latest in Utah. I'm pretty sure they make it well into May

Several have to close due to wildlife migration. I do not know the details, as it varies from resort to resort, depending on the wildlife extant and their behavior.

Many ski areas are on public land but I have never heard of one closing early because of it. Most stay open thru the first couple weeks of April. Big Sky is on private land and can stay open as long as they want.... but they want to close around Easter. Last year, Brighton stayed open a week longer than us so we went for the last week and had great powder skiing. If you have a pass from a Boyne resort, they will honor it.
And you can't go wrong with Snowbird!

Tahoe is usually a great place to be in April. Often by that time you can ski and golf on the same trip, if that's your cup of tea. Squaw and Alpine typically stay open very late; Heavenly closes relatively early. Resorts on forest service land are sometimes restricted in the duration of their operations (Brundage Mountain, Idaho, for example), but I never remember this being an issue in Tahoe. Don't know about Utah.

Steamboat closes before ski-able terrain is exhausted due to animal migration.
