I picked up a season pass and can't wait to use it of course. They are scheduled to open 11-24. What are the crowds like during this time before Christmas? Any place with reasonable lodging for a single guy, no wives or kids in tow?

I don't know about Stratton in particular, but in the northeast crowds are weak, prices are low on everything from tickets to lodging. There will be a bit of a frenzy over Thanksgiving weekend, but the rest of the period will be slow. Be careful though, it's hit or miss on what terrain is open. Mother nature can be very bountiful or very cruel. No need to book ahead, really.

Specifically regarding lodging, forget the internet pricing. Call the damn resort for a price as it gets closer. For a single person, you've got loads of flexibility and should land a very, very good deal. I was just looking at one last night at Stowe, which has rooms posted for early December for less than have their regular season rate, and they hinted you could do even better if you CALLED.

If you really want rock bottom prices, and don't mind driving a few miles, consider the hotels/motels in/around Londonderry. Forget the chains, go for a local joint.

I've got some use it or lose it vacation time to take before Christmas and I plan to take some of it and go skiing on the week before Christmas. I hate shopping anyways...

Seems as though there used to be a website dedicated to listing VT hotels, lodges, and motels/prices...etc....y/n? Think it should exist...or try Stratton or Mt.Snow's websites and search.

That would be great if there was and it was kept up to date. Most of the sites that are done independently are usually not up to date I have learned that most lodging establishments use a service for feeding their rates and specials for distribution to travel agents and internet-brokers and consolidators. The lodging establishments hold back their best rates from electronic distribution, it is not as sophisticated as the airline demand management software. This is why I'm so adamant about calling by phone if price or availability matters to you. What I've seen in my random walk down mountain lodging lane is that most resorts have not yet fully established pricing yet.

The site you suggest would at least give you a clue to work from, but not gospel. Good idea for sure.

I do too. Might you be headed Southern Vt direction? Maybe meet the famous Billski for a few runs?
