Ergon BX1 2013 Backpack

BK.jpg

With 427 cubic inches of storage, the 2013 BX1 is the smaller of Ergon's cross-country-focused backpacks, and is intended for weight-conscious riders wishing to carry only necessities. All of Ergon's BX series of packs use the innovative Adaptive Carrier System where the shoulder straps are connected to a hammock-like structure.
This design cradles the load, and allows it to be brought as close as possible to the user, ensuring more stability than traditional backpacks. The load, however, does not sit against your back as the BX1 uses an internal aluminum bar between the lower pads. Also, the bar can be adjusted by bending it slightly for a custom horizontal fit.
The cushioning pads are specially designed with ventilation in mind by using a large open weave that allows air to flow. Additionally, the pads are laid out to create channels, which permits fast drying to prevent irritation and discomfort. Furthering that goal, the BX1's shoulder straps are self-correcting, via D rings at the top, to automatically find the ideal angle and ensure a comfortable fit. There are two shoulder strap sizes available, small and large, for optimal fit and weight distribution. This attention to detail isn't limited to the BX1's external design -- just as much thought has been placed on actual storage.
The BX1 is designed to support heavier loads inside of the 'hammock' where its mass is centralized for stability. There's a large external pocket that's perfect for a rain shell, and inside there's a place for a pump, a multi-tool, and tire repair kits. The hip belt also has a mesh pocket for a phone, camera, or keys, and the external shock cord allows quick access to another layer.
The BX1 does not come with a bladder, but it has a compartment and routing for one. The compartment is a large zipped opening for ease of use and can hold either the Ergon BH200 or BH300 bladder. The 2013 Ergon BX1 comes in two colors; Black or Green/Grey. The Small pack is intended for riders under five foot seven; the Large is for those taller than that.
